Recommendations for Integration:
-
This problem-based RWLO
can be used to help students understand, using real data,
the need for large samples when conducting genetic surveys.
It is HIGHLY recommended that it be implemented during class
time as it requires the participation of all students to
complete the class poll (Section B, question 1), and that
each student work with a partner or small group to determine
their own dominant and recessive traits (Section A,
questions 1 and 2). For all other questions, students should
work independently.

Back-up:
-
Download and save the
Student
Directions, PowerPoint (genetics.ppt)
and Excel (genetics_worksheet.xls
&
cumulativedata.xls) files to the presentation computer and/or
each of the student computers or to a diskette prior to the
lesson. Alternatively, print-out all of the materials referenced
in the Content Material section of this web site and provide
sufficient copies to your students. At a minimum, a copy of each
of the materials used should be provided to each group of
students.
